In stage rallies, it’s a simple ‘fastest wins’ format, with the lowest aggregate time over all the special stages providing the winner. Co-drivers read route direction notes issued by the organisers on both the stages and the linking road sections to ensure the car is heading the right way.
These are far more expensive than road rallies, with more emphasis upon car preparation, speed and driver ability, rather than navigational skills.
Currently Manx Auto Sport promote the following stage rally events:
- Purchase a “Go Rallying” starter pack from MSA which includes a DVD, a copy of the Motor Sports Yearbook, the necessary application form, plus various other useful items.
- Complete a one-day MSA course for novice drivers, run only by members of the British Association of Rally Schools (BARS).
